A New Year Is Approaching & There’s So MANY Things To Be Thankful For This Holiday!
Hey Dolls! So as you know it’s the end of the year and it is time to reflect on the wonderful things that have happened this year. No day is perfect, no year is perfect and I don’t want you guys to think I’m just always a bucket of sunshine (lol cause I’m not) but I want you guys to understand it’s okay. It’s okay not to have a perfect year cause let’s face it I don’t think that’s even possible. What’s not okay is not giving yourself a chance and being thankful for a year well done regardless of the few hiccups. Like I always say just because you’re experiencing some rain doesn’t mean you have to add to the heavy showers. There are so many things to be thankful for this holiday and sometimes the rain has to fall so better things can blossom.
Let’s go through a simple list of gratitude:
1. Be thankful that you survived 2017
I think the beauty of life should be first of the things to be thankful for this holiday and any other day. 2017 was was like a wrecking ball crashing through many persons’ lives (natural disasters, wars, chronic illnesses). It was filled with hardship like any other year, though some more catastrophic than others. There are countless people who wished their loved ones made it through to welcome a glorious 2018 with them. There are many who surrendered the fight and unfortunately won’t be here to know how much they’re loved.
Whatever you do put your best foot forward and know that you’re not alone in this fight. Know there’s always at least one person who NEEDS you. Know that you matter and you have a purpose so be thankful that you get to search for it. If you’re reading this and ever need anyone to talk to know that my emails are ALWAYS open. Please, 2017 was devastating enough, DON’T GIVE UP!
2. Be thankful you’re reading this
I know this title may sound a little Trumpy, but I swear it’s not what you think. If you’re reading this then that means you are lucky and privileged to have access to the internet. Which means you’re lucky to have a mode of communication to reach a large number of your loved ones this holiday. You get to tell them how much you care and hear their voice or read their thoughts about how much they love you back. It may sound like a frivolous thing or very millennial but the internet can serve great purposes and more so there are so many platforms where your voice can be heard.
3. Be thankful for whatever gifts you receive this Christmas, regardless of size
Christmas season is the season of giving but also receiving. It’s a season where you get to spread love and cheer. Sometimes we get caught up on a wishlist we have planned but never forget to be thankful for all the gifts outside of what you wanted. People work hard for their money and regardless of size or price, no gift is too small to show gratitude. Yes, it’s cliche but the thought does count.
4. Be thankful for any small gesture you receive
Want to here the hardcore truth? No one and I mean absolutely no one, is obligated to you nor has to do anything for you. So when someone say “Merry Christmas!” to you don’t just say “Thanks!” but extend the joyous salutation in return along with a note of thanks and a welcoming smile. That literally takes up a few seconds out of your time. If someone holds the door for you due to your ample shopping bags, be courteous and say thank you. It costs you nothing to be nice in return or to be gracious to someone. Not only does it keep the Christmas spirit alive but it shows you’re appreciative.
5. Be thankful for all the wonderful people in your life
Time flies and sometimes our days past faster than we’d like them and throughout all of the hustle and bustle we forget to tell those cloest to us how much we care and appreciate them being in our lives. I know you don’t have to wait til Christmas to do this but remember to tell those present in your life just how much they mean to you. It’s never too late.
Thanks for reading this post on the many things to be thankful for this holiday, I hope this adds some positivity to your day and it reminds you to give thanks. Have a fabulous Christmas Dolls! And remember to be kind to yourself as well others this holiday!
